With this project, Médéric won the French Revelation of The Year (Frank Ténot prize) at the Victoires du Jazz 2007 and they released a new album called, “Shangri-Tunkashi-La” in February 2010 which is a tribute to Miles from the years 1968-75. The result is disarming, a kind of artificial and multicolored opera, dense and powerful. With great talent, he has adapted and rewritten “Porgy and Bess” for his energetic quartet “Le Jus de Bocse”, bringing much freshness and freedom. In a big band or in small ensembles, Médéric has shown himself to be a brilliant trumpeter and a talented improviser with his vocal and electronic experiments, using jazz as one component of an explosive collision of styles.Īside from his mastery of rhythmic, harmonic and directional play, Médéric is also a brilliant composer. Will-o’ the wisp, high speed and unpredictable, Médéric Collignon quickly established his mild madness and his musical hyperactivity. Médéric Collignon appeared in the French Jazz scene in the beginning of the 2000’s. This trumpeter, buglist, cornettist, vocalist and performer has accumulated experiences and multiple rewards such as : the Grand Prix of The Charles-Cros Academy (2006) and several “Victoire du Jazz” in 2007, 20. Médéric Collignon is known as the “enfant terrible” of French Jazz.
